Of Practice by Montaigne | Great Essays

While out riding one afternoon, Renaissance philosopher, Michel de Montaigne was thrown from his horse and left in critical condition. To his friends watching, the account appeared agonizingly painful, however for Montaigne the experience was quite different. Lucky for us (and for him) he lived to tell the tale! In this classic essay we will be exploring Montaigne’s thoughts on What the process of dying is like What one can or should do to prepare for death “…as for death, we can try it only once: we are all apprentices when we come to it.”
